Paso and Pismo

What: Wine and Waves Where: Paso Robles, and Pismo Beach CA When: January 13-23rd, 2018 Got an invite to join some friends on their annual trip to wine taste in Paso, followed by a weekend in Pismo beach. We’d just purchased the new Airstream, Serenity (also), were waiting for the delivery of the new tow vehicle, and were going to sell the original Serenity after this trip. So it was her farewell voyage.

Introducing Serenity (also)

What: A new (to us) Airstream! When: January 4th 2018 After several long trips in the 19′ Bambi, we realized with two people, two dogs, varied weather, and trips over a week, the trailer was just too small. We had to take down and make up the Dinette Bed every day, when one of our Boston’s was restricted from jumping, due to surgery (not once, but twice during the year), we had to keep her in a crate, which took up 50% of the floorspace.

Jackson Airstream Rally

What: Jackson Airstream Rally Where: Jackson Rancheria RV resort When: October 5-10th 2017 Probably the biggest rally for the relatively unstructured Northern California Airstreamers. The group is very casual, no officers or dues. A wagonmaster volunteers to host a rally, they do all the legwork to make reservations, gather names and registration fees, and deal with the inevitable changes and cancellations. Because they want to. An amazing group of folks.

Fishcamp

What: Fishcamp Where: Long Beach Washington Stops: Crescent City, California; Waldport, Oregon When: May 23-30th 2017 My brother in law bought and improved a bit of property in southern Washington, making it a wonderful fishing camp. He and many of his friends enjoy heading out in their boats and fishing the Columbia and the ocean just beyond for Salmon and Dungeness Crab. I’m not a boat person, but my wife is, so I get to hang out at camp and the surrounding areas, and enjoy all the rest of the benefits of Fishcamp.

Burney Falls

What: Annual Family camping trip Where: Mcarthur-Burney Falls State Park, Burney, California Stops: Durango RV Resort, Red Bluff, California When: May 23-30th, 2017 Description: My wife’s family has been doing an annual camping trip on Memorial day weekend for over 50 years. When I started going, I didn’t really call it camping, because the park has bathrooms and showers. I was really more interested in camping in remote areas that I’d use my 4wd to trek into.
